Chipper Jones kept Atlanta in the game by driving in a run with a double in the ninth, and the Braves' bullpen shut out the Nationals over the final six innings.

With one out in the 13th, Colome gave up a single to Martin Prado and Jones singled Prado to third. After Mark Teixeira walked to load the bases, Francoeur came through with his two-run single.

A sacrifice fly by Andruw Jones brought home Teixeira with the third run of the inning.

The win went to Jose Ascanio (1-1), who retired the side in order in both the 12th and 13th innings.
