MLB: Baltimore 3, LA Angels 0

BALTIMORE, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Jon Leicester combined with three relievers to throw a five-hit shutout Thursday night, as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Los Angeles Angels, 3-0.

It was the Orioles second win in eight games.

Leicester (2-1) gave up four hits over 5 2/3 innings, one night after the Orioles allowed the Angels 18 runs. Jim Hoey, Chad Bradford and Jamie Walker shut down the Angels the rest of the way, with Walker earning his fifth save.

Scott Moore drove in two runs, as the Orioles prevented Jon Lackey from becoming the Angels' second 17-game winner of 2007.

Lackey (16-9) gave up all three runs on nine hits in seven innings, striking out eight.

Leicester was the first Baltimore starter in the last eight games to last more than five innings.
