SEATTLE, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Grand slam homers by Kurt Suzuki and Dan Johnson powered the Oakland Athletics' 9-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners Monday.
Joe Blanton (13-9) took advantage of the Athletics' power surge to pitch seven innings, giving up eight hits but just two runs. The right-hander improved to 5-1 over his last eight outings.

Huston Street recorded the final four outs of the game to pick up his 13th save, as Oakland ended a three-game losing streak.
Jose Guillen homered for the struggling Mariners, who have lost 14 of 16. It was his 20th this season.
Seattle starter Horacio Ramirez (8-6) lasted just 1 2/3 innings, giving up five runs.
It was just the second time in A's history the team hit two grand slams in the same game.
