
NEW YORK, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Mark Teixeira hit a three-run homer during a six-run fourth inning Tuesday as the Atlanta Braves powered past the New York Mets 13-5.
Willie Harris had four RBI and Yunel Escobar also homered for the Braves, who stopped the Mets' four-game winning streak.
Braves starter Buddy Carlyle allowed three runs on six hits through 4 1/3 innings before Peter Moylan (5-3) earned the victory with 1 2/3 perfect relief innings.
Orlando Hernandez (9-5) lasted only three-plus innings for the Mets, who are atop the NL East by six games over the Phillies, who also lost Tuesday. Hernandez allowed eight runs on six hits. He pitched to five batters in the fourth inning but did not record an out.
Paul Lo Duca and Moises Alou both homered for the Mets.
