MLB: San Diego 3, Colorado 1

DENVER, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Greg Maddux held the Rockies to one run in six innings Saturday night, as the San Diego Padres beat Colorado, 3-1.

Maddux (12-9) allowed just three hits and struck out three -- and extended his streak of innings without giving up a walk to 54 1/3. He has pitched to 212 batters since giving up his last walk July 28 against the Houston Astros.

Khalil Greene had two hits, drove in a run and scored a run, while Kevin Kouzmanoff had one RBI for the Padres, who won for the first time in their last four games.

Garrett Atkins had two hits and one RBI for the Rockies.

Losing pitcher Jeff Francis (15-7) allowed two runs on four hits in eight innings for the Rockies, who lost for just the second time in their last six games.

Trevor Hoffman earned his 37th save of the season, and recorded his 1,000th major league strikeout.
