Jackson, Williams join hoops Hall of Fame

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Coaches Phil Jackson and Roy Williams were among the inductees honored Friday night at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass.

Jackson has coached teams to nine NBA championships -- six with the Chicago Bulls and three with the Los Angeles Lakers. Williams has led Kansas and North Carolina to five Final Fours, and he guided the Tar Heels to the 2005 NCAA title.

They were joined in the Hall of Fame by the 1966 NCAA champion Texas Western team, four-time WNBA championship coach Van Chancellor, referee Mendy Rudolph and international coaches Pedro Ferrandiz and Mirko Novosel.
