Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Ryan Garko homered and C.C. Sabathia pitched eight innings Monday as the Cleveland Indians beat the Minnesota Twins, 5-0.
Sabathia (16-7) allowed six hits while walking only one and striking out six.
Travis Hafner, Victor Martinez, Franklin Gutierrez and Ben Francisco each had an RBI for Cleveland, which has won 11 of its last 13 games. Cleveland is six games ahead of runner-up Detroit for the lead in the AL Central.
Alexi Casilla went 4-for-4 with a double for the Twins, who have lost six of their last eight games.
Johan Santana (14-11) suffered the loss after giving up four runs on six hits in six innings.
