SPRINGFIELD, Ill., Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Sherri Steinhauer beat Christina Kim by one-stroke Sunday afternoon to win the LPGA’ State Farm Classic at Springfield, Ill.
Steinhauer holed a dramatic 25-foot par putt from off the green at the tournament's 72nd and last hole. Her total in the final round was 5-under 67, and her winning total was 17-under 271.
Kim birdied the last three holes, including two from off the green at 17 and 18, for a 6-under 66 and a final total of 16-under 272.
"I was in between clubs," said Steinhauer, while talking about her approach at 18. "I didn't make a positive swing. I didn't trust it. I ended up in the bunker and it was a poor shot. I got lucky."
Annika Sorenstam (67), the 2006 champion, and Rachel Hetherington (69) tied for third place at 14-under 274.
