CARSON, Calif., Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Eddie Pope scored his first goal of the season Saturday night, as Real Salt Lake beat Los Angeles, 2-1, in Major League Soccer action.

The Galaxy scored first, when Alex Gordon scored his first goal of the season in the sixth minute. But Pope and Robbie Findley scored four minutes apart in the second half, to send Los Angeles to its sixth straight loss. The Galaxy also has an eight-game winless streak.

Real won back-to-back games for the first time this season -- and extended its lead over Los Angeles to four games, as the two teams struggle to avoid a last-place finish in the Western Conference.

The loss came on the heels of news that David Beckham is likely through for the season because of a knee injury.
