NEW YORK, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Top women’s seed Justine Henin Sunday trounced No. 15 Dinara Safina, 6-0, 6-2, in a fourth-round match at the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament at New York.
The defending champion and world No. 1 barely broke a sweat in losing just three games.
Sisters Venus and Serena Williams also advanced, as did third-seeded Jelena Jankovic, who beat Sybille Bammer, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.
Serena, the No. 8 seed, had 10 aces and 32 winners while topping Marion Bartoli, 6-3, 6-4. Venus, the 12th seed, beat Ana Ivanovic, 6-4, 6-2.
"Each match I feel like I've gotten better," said Venus Williams. "I'm still not near where I want to be, but I feel like I'm doing better, which is important."
If the sisters win their next matches, they will face one another in the semifinals.
