COL FB: USC 38, Idaho 10

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- John David Booty passed for three touchdowns and 206 yards Saturday night as top-ranked Southern California beat Idaho, 38-10.

In their college football season-opener, the Trojans led, 14-0, and toyed with the Vandals much of the way. Their lead was 21-3 at the half.

They scored 17 points in the third before resting their first-string offense and defense.

C.J. Gable gained 68 yards on eight rushes and Stafon Johnson ran for two scores and 63 yards on 12 rushes. Gable was one of three players who caught Booty's touchdown passes.

Idaho's Nathan Enderle was 16-of-34 passing for 155 yards.

Jason Byrd scored the Vandals' touchdown in the fourth quarter, and Deonte Jackson rushed for 100 yards on 22 carries.
