MLB: Washington 4, San Francisco 1

WASHINGTON, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Joel Hanrahan allowed one hit and one run in six innings Saturday, as the Washington Nationals beat San Francisco, 4-1, to end a seven-game losing streak.

Tied at 1-1 in the fifth, Washington got one RBI each from Jesus Flores, Ryan Church and Ryan Zimmerman. Flores had two hits and two RBI, and Ronny Belliard also had two hits for the Nationals, who had not won since Aug. 21, 11-6 at Houston.

Hanrahan (4-2) walked one batter and fanned two.

Chad Cordero earned his 29th save this season.

San Francisco’s only run came on a solo homer by Pedro Feliz in the top of the fifth. Pinch-hitter Nate Schierholtz had the other hit for the Giants, who have split their last four games.

Losing pitcher Jonathan Sanchez (1-3) surrendered three earned runs and six hits in 5 1/3 innings, with a walk and seven strikeouts.
