MLB: Oakland 5, Toronto 4 (11 inn.)

OAKLAND, Calif., Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Jack Hanrahan’s RBI single in the bottom of the 11th inning Wednesday afternoon gave the Oakland Athletics a 5-4 victory over Toronto.

Hanrahan's only hit of the contest extended his hitting streak to 11 straight games.

Toronto was three outs away from a 4-2 loss when Lyle Overbay and Matt Stairs hit solo homers in the top of the ninth. Stairs’ 17th homer of the season created a 4-4 tie.

Oakland’s Marco Scutaro had a run and three hits and was one of three players with one RBI. Rob Bowen had a run, two hits and two RBI, while Mike Piazza also had two hits for the Athletics, who have split their last 10 games.

The winner was Ruddy Lugo (5-0).

Toronto’s Alex Rios and Aaron Hill also blasted solo homers. Rios had two hits for the Blue Jays, who also have split their last 10 games.

The loser was Jason Frasor (1-4).
