NEW YORK, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Chivas USA forward Maykel Galindo scored a pair of goals in a win over Los Angeles and was selected the Major League Soccer player of the week.
Galindo had two of Chivas’s goals in a 3-0 road victory last Thursday over the Galaxy. He got the game’s first goal with a blast from the top of the penalty area in the 58th minute and made the score 2-0. About 10 minutes later he converted a nice pass from Francisco Mendoza.

Galindo is fifth in the league with 10 goals this season.
It was the second time this season Galindo was named the MLS player of the week, having won in the season’s third week.
