Fisher wins KLM Open

ZANDVOORT, Netherlands, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Ross Fisher shot 3-under-par 67 Sunday to win the European Tour’s KLM Open at Zandvoort, Netherlands, by one stroke over Joose Luiten.

The native of Ascot, England, who sprinted away from a three-way tie after Saturday’s third round, finished with a 72-hole total of 12-under 268 for his first tour victory. He nearly blew a four-shot lead, but ended with a birdie at the 18th hole.

Fisher then had a five-minute wait before being declared the winner because tournament officials had to rule on whether he illegally moved a bramble before his second shot at the 12th hole.

"I feel very lucky and fortunate to be standing here as the winner," Fisher told reporters. "I was ecstatic one minute and suddenly it was not looking so good."

Luiten, a local fan favorite, ended as the runner-up after a final round 4-under 66, which made his total 11-under 269.
