ARLINGTON, Texas, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Texas Rangers right-hander Willie Eyre will have elbow surgery and may miss the remainder of the 2008 season.

Eyre, 29, went on the disabled list Aug. 17 with elbow stiffness, but an MRI Thursday showed a partial ligament tear in his right elbow. Surgery is scheduled for Monday.

Eyre was 4-6 with a 5.16 earned run average in 33 games -- including two starts -- with the Rangers this season. He had been used predominantly as a middle reliever.
