TORONTO, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Fred scored the game’s only goal in the eighth minute Saturday night as D.C. United beat Toronto FC, 1-0, in a Major League Soccer contest at Toronto.
The goal came before the crowd settled in, and United went on to record its sixth straight victory.

United, second in the Eastern Conference behind New England, rose to 12-6-3 on the season. Toronto sank to 5-12-5 with its fifth straight shutout loss.
The last time Toronto scored was in a 1-1 tie at Chicago July 7.
