BRISTOL, Tenn., Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Kasey Kahne
Friday won the pole for Saturday's running of the Sharpie 500 Nextel Cup race at the Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway.
Kahne circled the half-mile oval in 16.016 seconds, with Juan Pablo Montoya turning in a lap of 16.064 to qualify second.
There were 30 drivers within 2/10 second of each other. Kahne will be looking for his first victory of the year after winning six times in 2006.
Jamie McMurray and David Ragan qualified third and fourth. Points' leader Jeff Gordon was 18th.
