FOREST HILLS, N.Y., Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Virginie Razzano earned a spot in the semifinals Thursday at the Forest Hills Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Classic in Forest Hills, N.Y.
Razzano defeated Akiko Morigami, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3), as the tournament got back on track after being disrupted by rain earlier in the week.

Elena Vesnina earned a semifinal match against Razzano by upsetting fourth-seeded Aiko Nakamura, 6-3, 6-2.
In the other quarterfinals, Nathalie Dechy defeated Meilen Tu, 6-4, 6-7 (6-8), 6-4, and Gisela Dulko was a 6-1, 6-1, winner over Audra Cohen.
A small field of 16 players was invited to take part in this U.S. Open tune-up at the West Side Tennis Club.
