
CINCINNATI, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Adam Dunn belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the 12th inning Thursday night as the Cincinnati Reds beat Atlanta, 9-7.
Dunn's 35th homer of the season was Cincinnati’s third of the contest, and gave the Reds three straight wins in the four-game series.
The Reds’ Josh Hamilton hit a three-run shot in the second, and Edwin Encarnacion added a solo homer in the seventh to create a 7-7 tie.
Encarnacion had two runs, two hits and two RBI. Scott Hatteberg drove in one run, and two others had two hits.
The winner was Mike Gosling (2-0).
Atlanta got two runs, three hits and five RBI from Chipper Jones. Mark Teixeira had two RBI, including his 10th homer since he was obtained from Texas.
Andruw Jones also had three hits, and two players had two hits for the Braves, who have dropped six of 10.
The loser was Bob Wickman (3-3).
