MLB: St. Louis 6, Florida 4

ST. LOUIS, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Jim Edmonds hit a tie-breaking two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning Wednesday as St. Louis beat the Florida Marlins 6-4.

His ninth homer this season came after Yadier Molina’s RBI double earlier in the inning.

Molina also hit a solo homer in the fifth, while Albert Pujols hit a two-run homer in the first. Molina scored twice for the Cardinals, who have a three-game winning streak. Pujols homered for the fourth straight game, and extended his RBI streak to six straight games.

The winning pitcher was reliever Russ Springer (6-1), while Jason Isringhausen recorded his 25th save.

Florida scored on a solo homer by Miguel Olivo in the second, and an RBI single by Mike Jacobs and a two-run homer by Jeremy Hermida in the sixth.

Loser Scott Olsen (9-11) gave up six earned runs and 10 hits in 6 1/3 innings in the Marlins' seventh loss in a row.
