WVU suspends two football players

MORGANTOWN, W.Va., Aug. 21 (UPI) -- West Virginia University suspended defensive back Ellis Lankster and linebacker J.T. Thomas indefinitely Tuesday after their arrest on stolen property charges.

The two football players were taken into custody last weekend for allegedly transferring and receiving stolen property.

"I am aware that Ellis and J.T. have been involved in an off-campus situation," said Mountaineers Coach Rich Rodriguez. "I am investigating at this time and will make the determination about their status within the football program after all the facts are in."

Lankster is a junior who transferred to West Virginia in January from Jones Junior College.

Thomas is a red-shirt freshman who missed last season with a lingering ankle sprain. He was expected to serve as a back-up outside linebacker this season.
