
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Thomas Clayton scored on a 1-yard run with 47 seconds left Saturday night as the San Francisco 49ers beat Oakland, 26-21, in a preseason game.
Wide receiver Ashley Lelie caught a touchdown pass from San Francisco quarterback Alex Smith, and backup tight end Delanie Walker caught a TD strike from backup signal-caller Trent Dilfer.
Joe Nedney booted two field goals, as the 49ers rose to 1-1 in the preseason.
Oakland’s Daunte Culpepper threw two touchdown passes and went 6-for-8 for 97 yards. Josh McCown went 8-for-17 for 97 yards, and Andrew Walter was 9-for-16 for 78 yards with one interception.
Oakland (1-1) continues to play without No. 1 draft pick, quarterback JaMarcus Russell, who remains a contract holdout.
