EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Juan Pablo Angel scored in the 88th minute Saturday night as New York beat Los Angeles, 5-4, in a wild Major League Soccer contest at East Rutherford, N.J.

The goal was Angel’s second in the contest. He also scored in the fourth minute.

New York’s Josmer Altidore also scored twice, with his second goal giving his side a 4-3 lead in the 70th minute.

The Red Bulls have won three of their last four games.

The Galaxy got two goals from Carlos Pavon, and Landon Donovan and Edson Buddle each scored a goal, as LA (3-8-5) suffered its third straight loss.

Four goals were scored in the game's final 20 minutes.

The game marked the first MLS start for the Galaxy's David Beckham, who has been slowed by a left-ankle injury.

He did not score, but he did help draw 66,237 soccer fans to Giants Stadium.
