LOS ANGELES, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Running back Emmanuel Moody, Southern California’s second-leading rusher last season, will transfer from the Pac-10 school.
The Los Angeles Daily News reported Thursday the 6-foot-1 inch, 205-pound sophomore from Coppell, Texas, felt "forgotten" after suffering various injuries -- including an ankle injury that forced him to sit out the Trojans’ final four games last season and a hamstring injury that caused him to miss nearly all of spring practice this year.
Moody scored twice on 79 carries for 459 yards last season, and added three pass receptions for 39 yards.
He was Freshman of the Year in the Sporting News.
His decision shocked his Trojan teammates, including fellow tailback Joe McKnight -- a freshman and an adept punt returner, who likely will get more playing time in the backfield.
"I still have no idea yet," he told the newspaper, "but (returning punts) just comes natural."
McKnight returned a punt 74 yards for a touchdown in a recent scrimmage.
