OAKLAND, Calif., Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Kurt Suzuki hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning Thursday afternoon as the Oakland Athletics beat the Chicago White Sox, 8-5.
The Oakland catcher also hit a run-scoring single in the fourth, giving him four RBI on the day. Mike Piazza hit a two-run homer, one of his three hits; Shannon Stewart hit a solo homer in the seventh; and Jack Hannahan had one RBI for the Athletics -- who completed a three-game sweep of the White Sox and have won four in a row overall.
The winning pitcher was Ruddy Lugo (4-0).
Chicago got one RBI each from four players, and a run scored on Nick Swisher's third-inning fielding error.
A.J. Pierzynski had two runs and three hits, while three others had two hits for the White Sox, who have dropped five straight.
Loser Matt Thornton (3-4) gave up the walk-off home run.
