SALT LAKE CITY, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- The Utah Jazz Wednesday signed Kyrylo Fesenko, a 7-foot-1-inch center from Ukraine.
Fesenko was Utah's second-round pick in this year’s NBA Draft. The team swapped second-round picks with Philadelphia on draft night.
The Jazz noted on their Web site no decision has been made about how to use him next season, or whether he needs a year of seasoning with the Flash, Utah's entry in the NBA’s Development League.
Fesenko's multi-year contract with the Jazz must be approved by FIBA and the NBA, a process that could take up to a week, said Kevin O'Connor, the team's senior vice president of basketball operations.
The 21-year-old Fesenko had an impressive performance with Utah's team in the Rocky Mountain Revue, this summer, which earned him a shot with the parent club this fall.
Utah paid $500,000 to his former club, Cherkaski Mavpi, in Ukraine.
