Eagles likely lose 2 players for the year

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Philadelphia running back Ryan Moats and defensive end Jerome McDougle will likely miss the entire 2007 season, the Eagles said Wednesday.

Moats suffered a broken left ankle Monday during the Eagles’ 29-3 preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Philadelphia Coach Andy Reid said Moats would have surgery on the injury.

Moats appeared in 15 games over the last two seasons with Philadelphia, gaining 347 yards and three touchdowns on 77 carries.

McDougle, a selection by the Eagles in the 2003 draft, has appeared in just 33 games as a series of injuries have limited his playing time. His latest injury -- a “significant” right triceps injury -- will probably keep him out for the season. Reid said, however, McDougle would have his status updated in the near future.
