DETROIT, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- Magglio Ordonez hit two home runs in the second inning Sunday to help the Detroit Tigers beat the Oakland Athletics 11-6.
The first homer was a solo shot with one out, and the second was a three-run blast that capped an eight-run uprising. Ordonez was the first Detroit player to homer twice in one inning since Al Kaline in 1955, and has 21 homers this season.
Brandon Inge drove in two runs and five other players had one RBI each for the Tigers, who won twice in the three-game series.
The winner was Nate Robertson (7-9).
Oakland’s Marco Scutaro had three hits, one a solo homer in the second inning, and four RBI. Mark Ellis and Dan Johnson both had one RBI for the Athletics, who split their last 10 games.
The losing pitcher was starter Dallas Braden (1-7).
