LOS ANGELES, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Casey Kotchman
drove in two runs and Maicer Izturis
hit a solo homer Monday, keying the Los Angeles Angels' 4-2 win over the Boston Red Sox.
Chone Figgins added an insurance run for LA with a sacrifice fly in the seventh.
The Angels' offensive output was enough to make a loser of Curt Schilling (6-5) in his return from the disabled list. He gave up all four runs on nine hits, no walks and five strikeouts over six-plus innings.
Jered Weaver gave up the two Boston runs on six hits with two walks and four strikeouts over six innings for Los Angeles. Justin Speier (1-2) threw a scoreless seventh for his first win with the AL West-leading Angels, who have won eight of 12.
Kevin Youkilis homered and J.D. Drew had three hits for Boston, which lost for just the second time in six games. Boston's lead in the AL East has been trimmed to six games over New York.
