BRIDGEVIEW, Ill., Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Chicago star Chris Rolfe played for the first time in nearly three months Saturday but couldn't score and the Fire wound up in a scoreless tie with Columbus.

Chicago, which also added Costa Rica international Paulo Wanchope, managed 11 shots but only three on goal.

Columbus goalie Will Hesmer continued his solid play to post his fifth shutout in nine starts. The Crew have lost just one of their last nine games, all with Hesmer in goal. Columbus (6-5-8), is tied for the second-fewest losses in MLS this year,.

Chicago didn't manage its first shot on goal until the 26th minute when Calen Carr - who had a goal and an assist in the win over Toronto - was denied by Hesmer.

Columbus countered with its first shot on goal in the 28th minute when Stefani Miglioranzi tested Chicago goalie Matt Pickens.
