TORONTO, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Galaxy and the Toronto FC played to a scoreless tie Sunday.
LA played without David Beckham, who wasn't dressed for the Galaxy's first Major League Soccer match since July 7 because of his lingering left ankle injury.
Landon Donovan and the Galaxy (3-5-5) were missing the offensive flair they showed in a 6-5 win over FC Dallas in the final group match of the SuperLiga this past Tuesday. The Galaxy managed only two shots the entire game -- just one on goal.
"One player doesn't make the difference in soccer," said LA Captain Donovan. "Everybody has to pitch in. Everyone can't wait for him to play. Heck, I can't wait for him to play but we have got to keep going and not dig too deep of a hole so that when he comes back we still have a chance for the playoffs."
Despite making 14 shots, Toronto FC has gone 372 minutes without scoring. The team's last goal was by Maurice Edu in the 78th minute at Chicago July 7.
