ST. ANDREWS, Scotland, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Lorena Ochoa of Mexico moved toward her first major title when a third-round even-par 73 gave her a six-shot lead in the Women's British Open in Scotland.
Ochoa, ranked No. 1 among the world's women golfers, was at 6-under 213 through 54 holes.
With winds topping 30 miles per hour Saturday, Annika Sorenstam, Se Ri Pak, Paula Creamer, Karrie Webb and defending champion Sherri Steinhauer all shot over par in the third round.
In the first professional women's tournament ever held on the Old Course at St. Andrews, Sweden's Linda Wessberg was the only other golfer at par after three rounds.
Wessberg (72) was in second place at even-par 219.
"I can't really remember the holes," Wessberg said. "You just aim at the TV towers all the time. "It was tough out there."
Sorenstam had five bogeys and 11 pars on her first 16 holes.
