Rain disrupts Nordic Light Open

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- No. 8 seed Vera Dushevina was the only player to advance Friday as rain wiped out most of the play at the Nordic Light Open.

Dushevina advanced to the semifinals at the Stockholm Olympic Stadium by downing Dominika Cibulkova, 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3.

Julia Goerges was leading Emilie Loit, 2-0, when play was called for the day.

The other quartrfinal matches were postponed. Carolina Wozniacki was to have played Agnieszka Radwanska while Tsvetana Pironkova had been scheduled to meet Stephanie Cohen-Aloro.

The remaining quarterfinal matches and both semifinals were set for Saturday.
