
PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Yovani Gallardo combined with three relievers to throw a four-hitter Friday night as Milwaukee came up with a much-needed win, 2-1 over Philadelphia.
The Brewers moved back into the lead in the National League Central by one game over the Chicago Cubs. Milwaukee had lost seven of its previous nine games and appeared to be unraveling Thursday night when Ned Yost" class="tpstyle">Manager Ned Yost and catcher Johnny Estrada had to be separated while arguing in the dugout.
Gallardo (4-1) went 6 2/3 innings, giving up a run on four hits with seven strikeouts. Francisco Cordero struck out the side in the ninth to pick up his 33rd save.
Prince Fielder singled in Milwaukee's first run in the opening inning and Gallardo scored the eventual winning run in the fifth on a single by Ryan Braun.
The loss went to Kyle Kendrick (5-2), who allowed two runs on eight hits in seven innings.
