Holliday wins weekly N.L. player honor

NEW YORK, July 30 (UPI) -- Colorado Rockies outfielder Matt Holliday, who had a league-high four home runs last week, Monday was named the National League player of the week.

Holliday's four home runs allowed him to pile up 10 runs batted in and nine runs scored. He hit .364 with a slugging percentage of 1.000 for the Rockies last week.

The National League listed 24 players receiving considering for the NL's player of the week award. Included in that group were Holliday's teammates Garrett Atkins, Yorvit Torrealba and Aaron Cook.
