MLB: Washington 6, N.Y. Mets 2

NEW YORK, July 27 (UPI) -- Ryan Church and Brian Schneider both drove in two runs Friday night as the Washington Nationals beat the New York Mets, 6-2.

Church hit an RBI double in the second inning and a solo homer in the third. Schneider hit an RBI double in the second, and an RBI single in the eighth.

Washington's Austin Kearns hit a solo homer in the sixth and scored twice. Nook Logan had one RBI, and three players had two hits for the Nationals, who have won four of their last six games.

Winner Mike Bacsik (4-6) gave up two earned runs and eight hits in seven innings, while Luis Ayala retired the six batters he faced.

New York scored on a double-play groundout by Lastings Milledge in the second, and an RBI single by Damion Easley in the fifth.

The loser was starter Jorge Sosa (7-6).

New York's Carlos Beltran missed his third consecutive game with a left abdominal strain.
