
HAMBURG, Germany, July 26 (UPI) -- Simon Khan shot 7-under-par 65 Thursday and has a one-shot lead after one round of the Deutsche Bank Players Championship at Hamburg, Germany.
Lee Slattery and Oliver Wilson are tied for second place at 6-under 66.
Ricardo Gonzalez, Carlos Rodiles, Johan Axgren, Alexander Noren and Zane Scotland, all share fourth at 5-under 67.
"I felt really good going out," Khan said after a round which included one eagle, five birdies, and one bogey.
He sank a key birdie at the 17th.
"I went back to an old putter, changed my grip a little bit to how I used to putt as I did as a kid."
"I got off to a nice start, steady, holed a few putts early on," said Wilson, who hasn't won yet on the European Tour.
Defending champ Robert Karlsson is tied for 22nd at 3-under 69.
