Ferrer, Moya set up quarterfinal battle

UMAG, Croatia, July 26 (UPI) -- David Ferrer and Carlos Moya set up a quarterfinal meeting Thursday with second-round victories at the Croatia Open.

Ferrer, a finalist in the event three years ago, ousted Jose Acasuso, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2. Moya was a 6-0, 6-3, winner over Pere Riba.

Moya has won the Croatia Open four times, with his first victory coming in 1996.

Filippo Volandri, hoping to reach the tournament finals for the third time in five years, outlasted Mischa Zverev, 7-6 (7-2), 7-5. Volandri will take on Andrei Pavel in the quarterfinals after Pavel got past Robin Haase, 7-5, 6-4.

The other quarterfinals Friday will send Guillermo Canas against Gilles Simon, and Viktor Troicki against Carlos Berlocq.

Troicki won his first two matches this week after having lost in the first round of his two previous tournaments this year.
