MLB: Cleveland 1, Boston 0

CLEVELAND, July 25 (UPI) -- Fausto Carmona gave up four hits over eight innings Wednesday in carrying Cleveland to a 1-0 victory over Boston.

It was the second 1-0 game in as many nights between the teams -- Boston having won by that score Tuesday.

Cleveland's lone run came on a homer by Franklin Gutierrez.

Carmona (13-4) struck out six and improved his record in July to 5-0. He did not give up a hit until Coco Crisp delivered a leadoff single in the sixth.

Joe Borowski worked a perfect ninth for his 29th save.

Josh Beckett (13-4) was the hard-luck loser. He retired 14 in a row at one point and 16 of the last 17 batters he faced in going the distance. It was his first complete game in two years.

Boston had won its previous five games.
