MLB: Boston 1, Cleveland 0

CLEVELAND, July 24 (UPI) -- Daisuke Matsuzaka threw seven shutout innings and Mike Lowell drove in the only run Tuesday as the Boston Red Sox nipped Cleveland 1-0.

Matsuzaka (12-7) struck out five while scattering four hits and three walks. No Indians got past second base.

Kevin Youkilis and Manny Ramirez had two hits each for the Red Sox, who have won five in a row.

C.C. Sabathia (13-5) took the loss although he gave up only one run and five hits with seven strikeouts and no walks in seven innings.
