NFL orders Vick not ro report to camp

NEW YORK, July 23 (UPI) -- NFL commissioner Roger Goodell ordered Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick Monday not to report to the team's training camp, which starts Thursday.

Goodell said Vick won't be allowed into training camp until the league completes a review of Vick's recent indictment by a federal grand jury for allegedly participating in an interstate dogfighting enterprise.

The dogfighting ring allegedly was conducted at Vick's house in Virginia.

Vick is to appear in federal court Thursday for a bond hearing and arraignment. The court date coincides with the first day of training camp for the Falcons in Flowery Branch, Ga.

Goodell told Vick the review would be completed as soon as possible and the quarterback's full cooperation is expected.

Goodell also told the Falcons not to discipline Vick until the NFL review is finished.

Vick and three others were indicted with travel in interstate commerce in aid of unlawful activities and to sponsor a dog in an animal fighting venture.

Animal rights activists Monday demanded the Atlanta Falcons dump Vick. About four dozen protesters called for Vick's release.
