
DETROIT, July 21 (UPI) -- Brandon Inge hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning Saturday night to hand the Detroit Tigers a 10-8 victory over the Kansas City Royals.
Sean Casey hit a one-out single before Inge drove the first pitch he saw off reliever Joakim Soria (1-3) over the left-field wall for his 12th homer of the year.
Ryan Raburn, Craig Monroe and Placido Polanco also homered for the Tigers, who have won five of their last six games.
Detroit starter Justin Verlander went 5 2/3 innings, allowing five runs on seven hits, with two walks and seven strikeouts.
Chad Durbin (7-3) earned the win by pitching a perfect 10th.
John Buck homered and Emil Brown drove in two runs for the Royals.
Kansas City starter Jorge De La Rosa gave up seven runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings.
