ATLANTA, July 19 (UPI) -- Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick likely will miss the start of training camp next Thursday after his indictment on illegal dog-fighting charges.

Camp is scheduled to begin July 26 at Flowery Branch, Ga., the same date the veteran quarterback is due in a federal court in Richmond, Va., for a bond hearing and arraignment.

A federal grand jury indicted Vick and three others Wednesday on charges including conspiracy to travel in interstate commerce in aid of unlawful activities and to sponsor a dog in an animal fighting venture.

"This situation has been troubling to many people, including our fans, during the last few months," the team said in a prepared statement on its Web site. "We are prepared to deal with it, and will do the right thing for our club as the legal process plays out. Our plan is to continue to do everything we can to support our players and coaches."

Vick has not commented.

"Given the differing perspectives and strong feelings around this issue, we probably won't make everyone happy, but we are committed to doing the right thing," said Falcons owner Arthur Blank in a statement Thursday. "As the owner of this club that's, ultimately, my responsibility. In the meantime, know that I'm saddened and distressed about this."
