Carr, Nagle to join golf Hall of Fame

CARNOUSTIE, Scotland, July 18 (UPI) -- Irish amateur champion Joe Carr and 1960 British Open champion Kel Nagle have been selected for induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame in Florida.

Carr and Nagle will join a 2007 Hall of Fame class that includes Curtis Strange, Hubert Green, Se Ri Pak and C.B. Macdonald. Induction ceremonies are scheduled for Nov. 12 in St. Augustine, Fla.

Carr, who died in 2004 at age 82, would be the first Irish member of the World Golf Hall of Fame. He won three British Amateur titles and 37 championships overall in Ireland in the 1950s and '60s. He also won the Irish Amateur six times.

Nagle, 86, from Australia, won the British Open in 1960. He claimed 61 championships in Australia and won tournaments in Europe, Asia and North America.
