
MIAMI, July 14 (UPI) -- Sergio Mitre allowed two earned runs and six hits in 7 2/3 innings Saturday night to help the Florida Marlins beat Washington, 5-2.
Mitre got run support from Miguel Cabrera (a two-run homer in the bottom of the first), Jeremy Hermida (a solo homer in the second) and Jason Willingham (a two-run homer in the sixth).
Hermida had two of the seven hits for the Marlins, who have won three of their last five games.
Mitre (4-4) did not walk a batter and fanned three, while Kevin Gregg recorded his 19th save of the season.
Washington's Ronny Belliard and Austin Kearns drove in a run apiece.
Ryan Zimmerman had a run and two of the six hits for the Nationals, who had their three-game winning streak snapped.
Loser Matt Chico (4-6) surrendered five earned runs and seven hits in six innings, with three walks and five strikeouts.
