Top-seeded American upset in Newport

NEWPORT, R.I., July 10 (UPI) -- Top-seeded American Mardy Fish was upset Tuesday in the first round by Pakistani qualifier Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi in the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships.

Qureshi defeated Fish 6-3, 6-4. The top seed has never won this tennis tournament since it started in 1976.

In another upset, German Mischa Zverev beat seventh-seeded Russian Igor Kunitsyn 6-1, 2-6, 6-1.

Also, 6-foot-8 Belgium Dick Norman beat American John Isner 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 American Scoville Jenkins defeated Italian Daniele Bracciali 6-2, 6-1.
