
KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 6 (UPI) -- Brendan Harris drove in two runs and scored twice Friday night as the Tampa Bay Devil Rays held on to beat Kansas City, 6-5, and end an 11-game losing streak.
James Shields (7-4) limited the Royals to one run through seven innings, but wound up allowing four runs in 7 2/3.
Gary Glover gave up a leadoff homer to John Buck in the ninth that brought Kansas City within one, but then recovered to pick up his first save of the season.
Odalis Perez (4-8) surrendered 10 hits and five runs through six innings to take the loss. After winning seven of nine, the Royals have lost two straight.
The Devil Rays were able to halt what had been their longest losing streak in three years. Their all-time worst skid was 15 games in 2002.
