LOS ANGELES, July 6 (UPI) -- Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant says he apologized to General Manager Mitch Kupchak for uncomplimentary things he said about teammate Andrew Bynum.

Bryant, speaking with reporters at a youth basketball camp he sponsors at Loyola Marymount College in Los Angeles, said Thursday he met personally with Kupchak two weeks ago to talk about his comments on a video recorded on a cell phone by some fans. The comments gained wide circulation with help from the Internet.

In his session with reporters Thursday, Bryant did not repeat his highly publicized demand to be traded, The Los Angeles Times reported.

"What I said is what I said. Everybody knows that we need to make some adjustments and need to get better," Bryant said Thursday. "That's not a shock, that's not a secret. We just have to see where that goes."

Bryant said he had been thinking recently about his future with -- or without -- the Lakers.

"I kind of stepped away from all of that and just focused on Team USA and just getting better," he said.

Bryant publicly demanded a trade May 30. He has four years and $88.6 million remaining on his Lakers contract, but he can void the contract in two years.
