MLB: Texas 4, LA Angels 2

ARLINGTON, Texas, July 4 (UPI) -- Marlon Byrd had three hits, drove in a run and scored once Wednesday as Texas defeated the Los Angeles Angels for the second straight night 4-2.

Jamey Wright (2-2) survived six innings to get the win, giving up two runs on five hits. Eric Gagne earned his 11th save with a perfect ninth inning.

Texas has won four of five with a makeshift lineup, while the Angels have dropped six out of eight.

Brad Wilkerson, who had three home runs Tuesday, contributed an RBI double. He has 16 RBI in his last eight games.

The loss went to Jered Weaver (6-5), who surrendered three runs on seven hits in five innings.
